When Sudoku Became My Quiet Escape
There are days when my brain feels like a web browser with too many tabs open. Messages pinging, tasks piling up, thoughts running wild. That’s usually when I reach for my secret reset button — not meditation, not scrolling social media, but a small, unassuming 9x9 grid called Sudoku.
At first glance, Sudoku doesn’t look like much. Just numbers. Empty boxes. Rules that sound simple enough. But anyone who’s tried it knows — behind that simplicity lies a world of logic, patience, and quiet satisfaction.
How I Accidentally Fell in Love with Sudoku
My relationship with Sudoku started during one particularly boring flight delay. I was stuck in an airport with nothing but a wrinkled newspaper and a dying phone battery. The puzzle page had a Sudoku grid, and since I had nothing better to do, I decided to give it a try.
The first few minutes were chaos. I filled in numbers randomly, erased half of them, and stared at the page like it was mocking me. But then — slowly — the logic began to make sense. Each row and column told a story. Each missing number was a clue. It wasn’t random; it was reasoning disguised as a game.
