Why do influencers gone wild get more engagement?

I’ve noticed that posts showing “influencers gone wild” usually get way more engagement than regular content. This includes viral mistakes, irresponsible stunts, dramatic confrontations, and anything that feels unpredictable.

So my question is: Why does this kind of behaviour attract so much attention?

Some theories suggest it’s psychological — humans are naturally drawn to drama and unpredictable behaviour. Others say platforms boost anything controversial because it keeps users scrolling longer. This creates a feedback loop: influencers act out, audiences react, algorithms promote it, and the cycle continues.

Do you think audiences enjoy this content, or is it just forced onto our feeds through algorithms? And is this trend harmful for content creators who feel pressured to escalate their behaviour to stay relevant?
