Constant calls from Williams & Fudge about student loans? They might be crossing a line.
I wanted to share my experience dealing with Williams & Fudge in case it helps anyone else. For weeks, they’ve been calling me multiple times a day from a South Carolina number about a student loan. The calls feel really aggressive, and I noticed a few things that didn’t seem right after doing some research.
First, I realized they never sent me a proper written validation notice explaining the debt in detail. I also read that they’ve faced lawsuits for things like using robocalls without consent and even improperly disclosing private loan information to third parties. One recent lawsuit even mentioned them sharing private student loan details with someone not authorized to have it, which is a big violation of privacy laws.
I found a guide that helped me understand my rights and how to fight back. The key for me was sending a certified letter demanding they validate the debt in writing and proving they have the right to collect it. I also documented every call date and time. If they’ve been calling your work after you asked them to stop, or using threatening language, that’s also illegal under the FDCPA.
It’s stressful, but knowing the rules they have to follow makes a huge difference. If they’ve broken the law, you might even be entitled to compensation. Stay strong and make them prove everything in writing.
Here’s the resource I used to figure out my next steps: https://protectionforconsumers.com/combatting-williams-fudge-debt-collection-harassment/
I hope this helps someone else dealing with the same thing.
